The whistle of wind blowing through slumbering trees,
spider webs glistening with crystal dew spun in silk filigree,
a summer twilight, clouds tinted with an ephemeral pink hue,
a fleeting glimpse of a diving kingfisher’s iridescent blue.
A red squirrel storing hazel nuts in an autumnal leaf store,
the call of an oyster catcher along a rippled sandy shore,
the blazing trail of a shooting star across an ebony night sky,
the undulating solo concerto of a skylark soaring high.
The rich scent of a rose floating on tranquil evening air,
a perching barn owl’s inquisitive dark liquid stare,
the swooping flight of blue tits along a blackthorn hedge,
the whisper of tall lissom reeds in a riverside bed of sedge.
The crispness of the air on a glittering winter’s night,
snow dusting a beach with a layer of transient white,
a breeze creating golden waves on a field of ripening corn,
tranquil mist resting above the sunrise just before dawn.
A spotted toadstool emerging from the soil overnight,
house martins leaving the nest on their primary flight,
the serenity of indigo bluebells in an undisturbed wood,
yellow daffodils where an aged yew tree once stood.
A dragonfly’s diaphanous wings above water crystal clear,
the Aurora Borealis before the ethereal shimmer disappears,
giant golden cotton reels with straw as their silken thread,
the calls of flowing lines of winter geese flying overhead.
Wild flowers embroidering a meadow of summer hay,
transposing fluid shadows as clouds and sunlight play,
nature provides such beauty throughout the year,
I only have to open my eyes and you are always near.
