A poem can express innermost emotions after the loss of a loved one or friend.
My poetry is written to be gently uplifting and evocative reminding the reader or listeners of the loved one or friend’s love of Wales.
My poems have been very well received at both church and crematorium services, by funeral directors and celebrants, and adds a very personal accolade.

The dramatic dark majesty of Snowdon’s soaring snow
covered white crest on a cold clear winter’s day,
overhead transient cumulus clouds create fluid light and shade
on distant undulating hills as wind and sunlight play.
A luxuriant thick carpet of heather’s profuse tiny purple and
pink flowers brighten windswept sparse moorland,
the evergreen conifer and dune backdrop to Llandwyn Island’s
beach with it’s wide expanse of golden sand.
Weathered fishing boats in Tenby harbour rest patiently on
wet rippled sand waiting for the next rising tide,
over fast flowing water the graceful arches of a suspension
bridge stretch over to the Menai Strait’s far side.
Portmeirion’s colourful Italian inspired architecture and
gardens are complemented with tranquil estuary views,
a nearby preserved steam railway runs through idyllic
mountainous scenery under a sky of purest blue.
Strumble Head’s conspicuous lighthouse is throughout the
summer overlooked by golden flowering gorse,
the narrow winding silver ribbon of a crystal clear mountain
stream flows it’s sculpted downward course
A hardy native sheep on a towering volcanic grey ledge
surveys a rolling moorland landscape far below,
a communal group of Carnaddau ponies graze tufted winter
grass, thick insulated coats protecting from the snow.
Snowden’s unique lily nestled in a sheltered narrow rock
fissure, with delicate cream petals and a warm yellow base,
a transient chestnut brown kite soaring high in thermal
updrafts exhibiting an effortless natural grace.
The perennial roar of cascading white water as it tumbles
through the smooth black boulders of Swallow Falls,
gentle hills and patchwork fields dotted with grazing sheep
are bordered by centuries old handcrafted drystone walls.
Since medieval times, Conwy Castle’s crenellated grey stone
towers have resolutely stood sentinel to the bay,
overlooked by hills, the turquoise water highlighted with glittering
wave tipped diamonds created by candescent sun’s rays.
With ever-changing weather and seasons, wildlife and soaring
mountainous vistas, all that you loved so dear,
when I think of or look at Wales, the beautiful landscape shaped by
millennia, this brings you ever closer, brings you ever near.
