In ancient woodland, the slumbering autumnal colours of bracken fronds of burnished
copper and antique gold,
sparkling crystalline frost on trees is backlit with a pure cornflower blue sky on a
winter morn icy cold,
the monumental austere majesty of Snowdon’s soaring snow covered white crest
momentarily takes the breath away,
white cumulus cloud creates fluid light and shade on distant sculpted hills as transient
wind and sunlight play.
A pool of smooth obsidian water mirrors imposing shadowed towering peaks and
copper tinted sunlit hills,
rising above resting nebulous white low lying mist, an azure and gold dawn sky allows
diffused sun rays to spill,
the silent leisurely pace of a painted elongated narrow boat on an aqueduct’s graceful
arches of grey stone,
the delicate floating fragrance and subtle colour of flowering indigo bluebells in a
tranquil woodland home.
The tumultuous liquid roar of a deluge of cascading white water as it tumbles through
the boulders of Swallow Falls,
the undulating weathered hand crafted patchwork intricacy of resilient grey
indigo black mountains silhouetted by evanescent gold layered clouds, the sky
colour-washed with soft pink,
the melodic concerto solo of a skylark clearly heard from distant blue sky as the
setting sun gently sinks.
The natural layered ancient artistry of slate’s iridescence of metallic gold, purple and
blue among grey,
resting smoke white nebulous low cloud softens jagged ebony rock peaks on a
tranquil winter’ day,
the gentle curving slopes of verdant valleys surveyed by shadowed sentinel hills
the soaring mountainous vistas of Wales unchanged in innumerable millennia,
always have the beauty to enthral.
