In an icy cold northerly wind, individual grains of crystalline yellow
sand tumble over a wet deserted winter beach,
shadowed solitary foot and paw prints following, only the furthest
white tipped waves of high tide will reach.

Walking through evergreen conifer woodland on a sprung carpet of
golden needles, uncovers a treasured fir cone prize,
a barn owl serenely watching from it’s hidden roost in a hollowed
oak tree, it’s imperious expression so wise.

Long stems entwined in a blackthorn hedge, the perfume of wild
honeysuckle lightly floats on tranquil evening air,
stretched out in front of a warming coal fire, paws twitching,
running in dreams, that moment without a care.

The pleasure of jumping over seaweed covered beach breakwaters,
chasing a favourite ball, barking at seagulls soaring high,
underneath the radiance of the sun’s leisurely ascent above the
distant horizon to the backdrop of a white gold sky.

Laying in tall summer grass embroidered with wild flowers,
watching choreographed swallows flying at height,
hearing striped bumble bees busily going from flower to flower
collecting sweet golden nectar, in seemingly random flight.

A late afternoon walk under a stormy rain-laden sky shortly
before the early dusk of a cold November day,
golden diffused sun’s rays momentarily shine through a small gap
in the clouds, lightening the layers of slate grey.

The slumbering winter garden transformed by a silent overnight
blanket of snow, soon a map of excited canine prints,
the camouflaged landscape’s shadowed night-time luminescence
under a clear full moon’s candescent silver tint.

Encircled by an undulating carpet of flowering bluebells’ colour and
delicate fragrance on a springtime woodland walk,
steep wide wooden steps surrounded by tall whispering Marram
sea grass lead to a striped sand-dusted boardwalk.

A springtime stroll alongside sown fields with equidistant flowing
lines and curves of chartreuse patchwork green,
a setting sun briefly transforms woodland leaves of russet red,
amber and burnished copper, a vibrant autumnal scene.

Discovering a spiky green husk nestled among a marbled leaf field
verge encasing a conker’s deep polished brown,
a dog has an innate joy of life and is recognised for it’s intelligence,
loyalty and the friendship for which it is renowned.
