You have not left me, you are…
The crystal clarity of a red breasted robin’s eloquent song,
on a frosty winter’s day,
the floating subtle almond fragrance of delicate pink apple blossom,
in the springtime month of May,
the pure simplicity of a quintessential rich cornflower blue summer sky,
over a tranquil silver tinted sea,
the timeless presence and enduring commanding majesty,
of a mature wise oak sentinel tree.
Nestled under the protective canopy of a richly coloured copper beech hedge,
the simple elegance of the wild blue harebell,
an emerald grass bank enhanced with flowering lemon native primroses,
in an undisturbed woodland dell,
in surrounding trees, a young family of adjacent and distant tawny owls,
calling in the indigo velvet silence of night,
the familiar transformed by an overnight dusting of pristine white snow,
creating luminous clarity of light.
Rich evergreen holly’s festive scarlet red berries displayed in abundance,
on a family Christmas Day,
a multitude of wild flowers in a plethora of colours and varieties embroidering,
a ripening field of hay,
the ephemeral evanescent arch of a prismatic artist’s palette rainbow,
briefly painting clouds of slate grey,
frost tinted burnished amber and copper autumnal leaves highlighted,
by a tapering shaft of radiant sun’s rays.
A transient light summer breeze creating flowing liquid gold ripples,
on a field of undulating corn,
the imposing spume of white horses riding the crests of rolling grey waves,
in a tumultuous winter’s storm,
trees awakening from winter slumber with young chartreuse leaves unfurling,
being visited by an inquisitive bee,
in the ever-changing beauty of the landscape, weather, wildlife and flowers,
you are always there surrounding me.
